If this doesn't make me sigh ....

I don't know what will...He's such a big boy. Peeing in the potty (when we make it in time or I remind him) brushing his teeth complete with the spitting and rinsing..it's just too cute. We had a good visit with my Mom and Dad. We will probably repeat it every Friday and Saturday cause Mom has some time to relax and Grandbaby therapy helps. Dad is doing just awesome. He is taking a few steps/wheeling himself around in a wheelchair. They can't get his peg tube (the feeding tube put into his stomach) to work right. I swear I thought he was saying he was getting hungry but they both said he didn't. He has lost alot of weight but not in the good way. He is pretty tired since he isn't getting all his feedings. He had trouble sleeping Thursday night and couldn't breath (stuffy nose). I know why my goodness I sit there for a few hours and my nose is dry and crusty and throat starts to hurt. But they gave him vaporized oxygen and it helped him sleep the next night. He needs prayer for attitude now. He's not seeing progress fast enough and he sorta had an anxiety attack about it. My mom is a great cheerleader. But He's doing awesome. I've never known anyone to go through what he has so in my mind he's doing great. My cousin's wife had their baby on Thursday and it was sent to the NICU on the floor above dad's. His lungs weren't developed even though he was only 3 days before the due date. So we have two relatives in the same hospital.

A kid can sleep anywhere

Not much to say except this had to be his idea you know? He watched t.v. like this after i put the blankets there while i was changing his sheets. He got a pretty good nap out of it too.

Update

We just got home from seeing my daddy. Sigh...I sure wish I could speed up time right now and all the hard times would be past him. He is the strongest bravest person I know. He's talking like two years till he can be normal (or able to have a life). He has to relearn how to swallow again so he will be in the hospital/rehab alot longer. It's scary at first to see him cause I remembered how he used to look but he's still my daddy and really he looks wonderful cause he's sitting up and talking, and well he's alive. Although he looks like he had a stroke he is the same daddy. He is having to relearn walking too. Thinking about the swallowing thing....God gives that ability to fetuses in the womb so really this the first time since then he's going to have to learn this. Chunk and Papa stuck their tongues out at each other which was cute. Chunk really lifted Daddy's and Momma's spirits I think. Dad said "Im getting better for the boy" He also was telling chunk how Papa's tongue was broke but that he would be getting better. I was so happy that Chunk was the right age where he wasn't scared of seeing him. He even kissed him and hugged him. I know some kids would have been scared and dad was so scared that he would scare the boy but chunk got over the fascination with the tubes and beeps. He's going to need alot of encouragement and mom too. He was saying that he had a long row to hoe. This is true but he certainly is not alone

New Baby Photos!

Here are the latest pictures of the new baby in the house. It was having a dance party when we took a peek at it. Looks like it will be here around August 11th so I'm almost 11 weeks. We ate at PF Changs to celebrate. I think I remember celebrating chunk's heartbeat there too. It was soo good. We ate too much. Chunk ate the lettuce wrap filling and rice and DH and I had Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken and Banana Springrolls (we did say we were celebrating right?). On another note my dad came through the face surgery well and was moved to a private room. Yay. He will be getting physical/speech and swallowing therapy (?) So things are going to be getting really busy for my folks.

PaPa Update

Just a quick update on my Daddy. He is breathing on his own, talking, and everything is going really smoothly. He will be getting his face muscles sewn to some new nerves now that he has lost his facial nerve. He is also getting his eyelid stitched closed so it's not open so big. His eyeball is wandering right now but the eye Dr says it will get better. His blood pressure is so low now they have to give him more fluids so it will increase! Dr. Muchemore took him off all his statins and regular bp meds (he was on 5 or 6 big doses that didn't lower it) and put him on some adrenal regulating medicine because his high bp is due to adrenal glands not heart or diet reasons. (Yay!). The dr will test later to see if it's just one gland messed up and if so they will remove it. This is really great news for him cause he can go off his medicines completely! On the mental note Dad is cracking jokes and telling stories about things that happened. He says he woke up on the operating table but the Dr. tells him it didn't happen but he's had alot of happy drugs. He remembers aspirating and being inti bated and he thought he was going to die and said he was scared to death. He is also having vivid Hawaii dreams about him and my mom surfing and staying completely dry. When they finished riding the "big one" Mom had a yellow surfboard and dad had a checked surfboard that they stuck into the sand. The surfer shop owner invited them to a party cause they were such good surfers. LMBO! He has always had the most vivid dreams. Anyway he wants me to name my kid John (gee if it's a boy right dad?)

Luke states that while Zacharias ministered at the golden altar of incense, an angel of God announced to him that his wife would give birth to a son, whom he was to name John, and that this son would be the forerunner of the long-expected Messiah (Luke 1:12-17). Citing their advanced age, Zacharias asked for a sign whereby he would know the truth of this prophecy, and so the angel identified itself as the Archangel Gabriel, sent specially by God to make this announcement, and added that because of Zacharias' doubt he would be struck dumb and not able to speak until the day that these things happen. Consequently, when Zacharias went out to the waiting worshippers, he was unable to pronounce the customary blessing (Luke 1:18-22).

On his return home Elizabeth duly conceived. Eight days after she gave birth when their son was to be circumcised according to Jewish tradition, their family members and neighbours assumed that he was to be named after his father, as was the custom. Elizabeth, however, insisted that his name was to be John, and so the family then questioned her husband. As soon as Zacharias had written on a writing tablet: His name is John, he regained the power of speech, and so praised God (Luke 1:60-79 Dad is being very deep.

2 years old

An uneventful birthday for chunk today as we are iced in and not leaving. He's sick anyway. But I can't believe my boy two years ago and now he's so big and smarter every day.

Prayer Request please

A picture just because....notice his OSU gear on while whatching the OU game (hee hee). Well Im going to see my dad tonight since I'm feeling better and been on antibiotics for three days. I will probably still wear a mask just cause I'm paranoid and don't want my dad to catch anything. Then drive up to the hotel with my brother and his girlfriend so I can get to the hospital at 6 am. If I never said what is going on my dad has an acoustic neuroma . This is not his first one. He had one the size of a dime back in 1993. He lost his hearing because of that surgery. Well since it is caused by a genetic abnormality there is a recurrance. He hasn't had a checkup for awhile and went in to get a hearing aid in his left ear. That's when they found a tumor the size of a bottle cap that has pushed his brainstem over. He has alot of secondary symptoms from this. Can't close his right eye, blood pressure won't regulate with medication and he was having some trouble turning off his body when he dreamed. This summer he would jump out of bed and hit his face on the bedside table. Luckily my mom is a nurse and an expert at butterfly sutures. So it all makes sense once we had a diagnosis. My dad is a man of faith and trusts God with his life but is still scared. So I covet your prayers for him and our family. Incidentally his dr is a man of god and prays every morning with his staff so we are thrilled. They just got home from Hawaii and now have another journey ahead. But without surgery things would be worse .

Chunks Birthday

This is just a quick update on our weekend. I was way to sick to be hosting anyone at my house but we decided to keep it really small. Ate Pizza and salad and then opened presents. Chunk loved his gifts. He got some money from Grandma and knew exactly what to do with it. he took it from me and put it in his pocket. Incidentally he called money pocket now. As you can see we got him a desk. He really likes it. I like that he'll grow into it later. But what was he playing with today with his friend Pru? That right just give the boy a box and he's pretty happy. I would bore you with details of my illness. Wasn't I just sick at Christmas? Good Greif. I think we aren't leaving the house for along time...Im sick of this. Im sick of feeling like a defective person since having a 10 lb baby naturally I can't cough or sneeze without an accident. I try to exercise that every day but man it doesn't make a difference. I know my weight has something to do with it. having a stomach put pressure doesn't help and neither does having to go every 5 minutes due to pregnancy. Oh well at least I can say this is temporary. Only I really need some nyquill, but that would be very bad.

Quiet Night=Trouble

Do I dare come into his room when he's this quiet? I better. I was talking to DH on the phone tonight for a few seconds. I'm not sure if the lid was off the bottle or if he found a way to get alot out. It's the whole bottle of Creamy Baby Oil and I wonder if he ate any of it. It was hilarious though. 1

Happy New Year

We had a good New Year's Eve. I know some of you will say "bad mommy" but chunk stayed up and counted down and drank some sparkling grape juice with Mommy. He had fun with us and we invited Joan and Dexter. Played Trivia (some hard newer version). We ate sandwiches with lots of condiments (like pickles and pepper rings that I've been craving). Queso and little smokies (like we needed more food) and I made an cookie bar mix that was awesome(alittle too awesome...never again). So after our dinner at 7, midnight came and i had to have another bite of sandwich. We are having sandwiches in a few minutes and then I'm making blackeyed peas (hopping john) later. I might be tired of pickles and peppers by then...but probably not. This pregnancy is so different than with chunk. For one thing I was drained from the beginning and couldn't breath with him. I feel great now. I had aweful aweful heartburn with chunk which led to lot's of antacid etc. This one is not bad. Only if I eat late. I was eating and hungry all the time with chunk. This one is so different. I can eat normally. Im hoping it means a smaller baby. I kid you not chunk came with his survival system in tact. His cord and placenta were so huge that the tech had to comment and show everyone. It was insane. No wonder he had jaundice and was hungry the whole time he was used to eating mass quantities. lol. This new year I'm making a resolution not to make a weight loss resolution cause well I'm pregnant. I am going to start working out more at least try some of my pregnancy yoga pilates till the weather gets warmer or dh buys a new space heater/hooks up the t.v. in the workout room (aka the garage). But I am getting alittle depressed not that I am getting fatter with a baby but that I lost 25 lbs and gained it all back. I hate looking at myself and seeing failure. Diet rebounding was not good to me. I only want to gain 15 with this new one though. Since I'm technically obese my dr will surely say that to me. I've only gained 2...so far...before last night (cough cough). Well Happy New Year to everyone and I hope you all have a great year.
